ISSUE OCTOBER 2008

RAPID BIKES October Issue Out Now!

The October issue of Rapid Bikes is now on the stands and as always we have crammed as much high-octane power into the pages as humanly possible!
Jeff returns with the goods from the world launch of Yamaha’s all-new VMAX with stretched arms and dreams of quarter-mile kingdom.
The comparo flavour of the past few months continues as Rennie pitches the 2008 GSX-R750 Suzuki and 848 Ducati head-to-head in Rapid Bikes’ class without a class comparo, while Pommie gets his naked on when he takes the Yamaha FZ1 and Triumph’s Speed Triple for a thrash. Rennie also goes for a quiet little strut on Honda’s do-it-all CB1000F… The modified bikes for October come from far and wide. From the US of A, DAK accessories bring us a mighty 300-horsepower GSX-R1000K5 while our resident streetfigher-mad German, Sabine Welt, teams up with Mick Withers to bring us a VMAX that has to be seen to be believed.
Jeff Smith showcases his immaculate 1098S Ducati, which is so shiny you’ll be reaching for the Ray Bans.
Sven Stalp’s sleeper 1999-model Hayabusa turbo graces the pages this month along with a wild little turbo GS500 Suzuki that has scooped up a few ASF awards in its time.
The Used Ride is Phil Harlum’s 1998-model Kawasaki ZX-9R.
Mick Withers explains what you will need in a basic toolkit to get started on engine rebuilding, and we reach the second part of our story on the legendary Kenny Blake.
Ever wanted to know what carbon-fibre wheels actually do? Jeff has the answer as he takes Project ZX-10R out to Eastern Creek for an in-depth test on the GZA carbon-fibre spinners.
The first half of the story on Computrack’s Greg McDonald is featured in the October issue of Rapid Bikes, and Pommie takes a bit of time out to test the entire 2008 Triumph range up the Oxley Highway.
With all our project bikes progressing nicely and columns from some of the world’s top racers, as well as streetfighter news and all the goss from the XSC stuntriding championships on the Gold Coast, this is an issue not to be missed.
