On a more suburban level, there's McCarr's Creek road on the North Shore. Local residents like to do laps of the road. Home and Away country is just a few minutes from there too and there are some nice fish and chip shops to visit post twisties ride!

offlineModeratorI think the official name is Hawkesbury Lookout. From Springwood you take the Hawkesbury Road turnoff, signposted Richmond and Windsor. Bit of suburbia and then it twists and winds down the side of the escarpment before winding it's way out to Castlereagh Road. Length: Buggered If I know. Never measured it. Usually pretty quiet except early morning and late afternoon.

There's a good coffee place on the right just before Victoria Pass. Looks like an old trading post or something.
Then you'll be ready for a trip up Victoria Pass before cruising past the cops between there and Katoomba.
Left at Springwood and away ya go.

A loop that I want to try soon is Berowra - Old Road - Putty - Windsor - Richmond - North Richmond - Bells - Katoomba - back to Sydney. 800KM-ish of scenic new south wales in one day! I am giddy just thinking about it.

offlineMemberA fairly short one - go up to North Richmond, chuck a left at the lights, I believe that road is the Grose Wold Rd, follow that thru some nice twisties. Come back down thru the Kurrajong township. Go across the main road intersection (which now has lights on it as I found out, coming back from a rally in Bathurst 2 weeks ago) and you are now on the Comelroy Rd, follow that all the way thru and it brings you out on the Putty Rd, left to go to the Colo, right to head back to Sydney.
Have to agree about the Old Road. Been riding it on and off since the late '70's. Just don't go up there anymore (unless it's for a good reason). Best time, like as was said before, was when it was posted 100kmh and when I had my old Mk4 LeMans

offlineMemberI remember the putty in the 80's on my RD250J getting under the Katana 750/1100's through the 25k corners...ahhh they were the days.
The Oxley was long and twisty and fast on my Katana 750.
Around Alice Springs on the GSX-R 1000 hmmmm enough said on that! (get me outa here).
Some nice blacktops outa Bathurst.
Seek and you will discover.

Would have to be ten years since I've been up the Putty. The road is definitely a lot better than it was back then. Despite all the paranoia about double demerits, we didn't see one cop. Must've been well hidden.
Anyone else been for a ride that needs to be shared?

As far as Qld rides go I couldn't have said it better, best part is the smell of roasted rubber when I double back over Mt Nebo and hammer it out of the tight uphill hairpins.... a real heart starter.

offlineMemberOn our runs from the Central Coast to Phillip Island we always take the road Bombala to Orbost via Delegate. The Bonang Highway.
Delegate to Bonang has about 13 - 15 kms of dirt to traverse, but the payoff is 100ks or so of fantastic twisties (All Victoria side).
You have to watch ahead because road is used for Logging, also no fuel along the way. Mobile reception is scetchy also so I wouldn't do it alone. Its very low on traffic so breaking down there would not be fun on your own! Thats all the negatives though. The smile on my face after every run through lasts for days!Posted 1 year ago #
