   Can someone please tell me what the difference is between the Australian model and a Grey Import model. I have 2 Suzuki 1988 GSXR750J Slingshots. The only difference that I can see is the speedo's Australian goes to 280kph and Import goes to 180kph. Parts are all the same the only other thing I can think off is the Import is detuned but you would'nt know it when you ride it. It goes just as good if not better than the Australian model. So why does everyone ignore imports. Even the local Suzuki dealer don't want anything to do it parts etc so I buy from America alot cheaper and people say buy local not when you get treated like shit and they charge 3 times more.

   Usually it has t do with ADR - if a bike or car does not have Aussie compliance you will find local dealers and spare parts wont want to know about it.Some models that were imorted on mass did get ADR compliance such as early 250 Ninjas as there was a learners market for them - there the ones with two sets of rear indicators as the factory wrap around rear lights on rear cowl failed to meet local standards.

   Yeah well said birdman.

   I think part of the speedo thing is that the Japanese have a 180km limit.

   Ohh ADR's don't you love em.....we've got to have our own unique rules for everything.
